Disabled Students Honored At Festival

Apr. 27--ODESSA -- Fifty-five Bay area students, including 14 from Hillsborough County, received a rare gift Saturday afternoon: a free education. ||The scholarships, which guarantee full tuition for a bachelor's degree through the Florida university system or tuition assistance for vocational training, were awarded at the ChairScholars Foundation's 12th annual festival. ||Headquartered in Odessa, the foundation provides the scholarships to physically disabled students.

VA Creates Office to Coordinate Hiring Vets

WASHINGTON, April 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake announced creation of a Veterans Employment Coordination Service to oversee the Departments program to recruit new veterans into the VA workforce, especially recently disabled combat veterans.||This program builds upon the Departments long tradition of service to veterans, particularly the disabled.||Efforts to assist severely injured veterans have already begun with the Departments participation in local career fairs targeting veterans of the Global War on Terror.
