Job Description

The Role

We are in search of an outstanding individual to take on the role of a Domain Architect. In this role you will be working to support the Solution Architects and the rest of the organisation with deep domain skills in cloud native, container and edge technologies.

The ideal candidate will have experience in working with containers and Kubernetes, strong technical and communication skills, an understanding of IT Infrastructure, DevOps, open-source software and/or application development. To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to work closely with both commercial customers and open-source users to help them understand the impact of SUSE technologies on their business and how it can benefit them, as well as internally giving feedback to product management to enable them to ensure that future developments in the product meet the future requirements of the consumers.

Job Description

While operating within our sales organization, the essential focus of this position remains that of a deep technical specialist; helping solve current and future customer problems, influence the strategic direction with deep insight and evangelise the solutions that SUSE has now.

Focus Areas  

Prospect and Customer Facing:

  • Support customers with deep technical skills to show the value of SUSE solutions.
  • Provide guidance and support for proofs of concepts, workshops, and seminars as deemed necessary.
  • Evangelise SUSE solutions at external events and gain recognition as an industry expert to broaden the knowledge of SUSE.
  • Engage the open-source community to understand current trends and possible future.Building and maintaining long term relationships with customers and partners.
  • Working with prospects and customers to implement solutions based on the SUSE solution stack. 

Internal Facing:

  • Support the Sales and Partner team with deep technical product knowledge.
  • Assist the Marketing team through both on-field and online initiatives.
  • Engage with Product Management and Engineering to feed back technical observations from the more bleeding edge opportunities.
  • Engage with Strategic Business Solutions and Product Marketing to participate in the authoring of early-stage marketing materials (presentations, solution white papers, customer success stories, and marketing slides) and related business solution demonstration scenarios that highlight SUSE’s capabilities.
  • Maintain alignment with Marketing and Product Management of existing and Future SUSE suite capabilities and help drive product innovation.
  • Keep up to date with any new SUSE solutions across the business lines.
  • Understand functionality and interoperability of SUSE components.
  • Disseminate insights gained from knowledge exploration and guide fellow Solution Architects and Domain Architects, enabling team members to benefit from your achievements, errors, optimal methodologies, field experience, and technical insights.  

Preferred Experience & Skills 

  • 5 years + experience working with the relevant technologies.
  • Deep technical knowledge of containers and container orchestration from operational and development  perspectives.
  • Experience with DevOps, networking and security concepts.
  • Experience presenting on technical concepts to end users both in person and virtually.
  • Excellent listening, presentation and problem solving skills.
  • Experience creating technical white papers, blogposts and videos.
  • Experience working in an open source community.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude for learning.Ability to set and maintain goals, welcome feedback and enjoy success.
  • Experience of operating at scale with geographically distributed infrastructure.
  • Willingness to Travel.

  • Able to interpret customers' business challenges and technical concerns, adeptly illustrating how a solution will harmonize with their demands or prerequisites.
