Med-Otolaryngology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26003255)

The Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Laryngology is seeking a full-time postdoctoral associate. The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in designing, executing, and analyzing data from basic and translational studies of voice disorders. The researcher will work closely with Dr. Chloe Santa-Maria and collaborate with a team of scientists, clinical practitioners, and trainees.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Laryngology

  • 2-3 years teaching experience in a university setting

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute in vivo experiments of vocal fold injury and fibrosis, including surgical procedures, post-operative care, and tissue harvest in compliance with IACUC-approved protocols.

  • Perform histological and immunohistochemical analyses of vocal fold tissue, including sectioning, staining, and imaging.

  • Conduct biomechanical assessments of laryngeal samples (e.g. phonation experiments).

  • Perform molecular analyses of laryngeal samples (e.g. RNA-seq, qPCR)

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods.

  • Prepare and submit peer-reviewed manuscripts supporting research findings.

  • Contribution to the preparation and submission of research grant applications.

  • Present research findings at laboratory meetings, university seminars, and national and international scientific meetings.

  • Mentor and support graduate students, medical students, and research staff in laboratory techniques and experimental design.
