The Team

The Trade Management Engineering group is the team responsible for providing trading solutions for Fidelity’s Capital Markets division. This is a hands-on role as an individual contributor and responsibilities include technical and business requirement gathering, technical leadership, and mentoring peers.

The Expertise You Have

  • BS or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or Finance.
  • 10+ years of low latency systems development experience in C/C++ on Linux, with good understanding of UNIX IPCs.
  • Very proficient in UNIX Shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of Equity/Options trading systems and market data is plus.
  • Knowledge of time series database, KDB is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship management, and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with business and technical team members across the organization.
  • Ability to read/analyze code and logs for requirement gathering, defect/incident triage, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to understand and design the technology and software architecture of an application.
  • Ability to quickly learn, adapt and strive to meet the needs of a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.

  • Expert knowledge and experience of taking complex features and breaking them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience analyzing, documenting, and modernizing legacy systems and workflows.
  • Experience with minimum viable product definition and product backlog management.
  • Ability to comprehend and articulate end-to-end system or financial workflows.
  • Strong leader with a collaborative work style and hands-on team leadership.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate impediments appropriately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships between business partners and technology groups.
  • Understands the value of trade off conversations with business partners.
  • Experience working with QA and customer-facing resources to develop, document, and track use cases.
  • Experience detecting and managing scope changes, as well as escalating and managing-to-resolution of issues.
  • Effective management of project-related tasks, issues, and planning.

  • Responsible for translating program priorities and features into deliverable tasks.
  • Lead the requirements gathering of new features and/or enhancements for our retail and institutional financial services platform.
  • Collaborate with technology and business teams to deliver high-quality solutions for business problems.
  • Bring curiosity and a questioning mind-set to work, asking always about the why and the value of new features/enhancements to the platform.
  • Contribute to enhancing systems analysis practices across a global team.
  • Monitor documentation standards and best practices.
The base salary range for this position is $107,000-216,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
