Summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineering Lead position partners with business and technical stakeholders to lead infrastructure design and integrations. The individual in this position has a proven track record of driving continuous improvement in all facets of infrastructure ecosystems. This position will lead shared services teams in the delivery of the infrastructure technologies and services. Effective ability to communicate, a positive attitude, and a proven track record of serving in a technical leadership role are key qualifications.
This role is a senior technical leadership position and member of the National Life Group IT Shared Services team. You will represent the shared services team in project initiatives, architecture design, and be a champion of operational excellence while collaborating across a vibrant technical community. We’re looking for an inquisitive individual with a passion for continuous learning, attention to detail, and a drive to follow-through. This role can be located in Dallas (Addison), TX; Montpelier, VT
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Delivery
- You will lead development and enhancement of CICD, SRE and APM tools.
- You will drive implementation of the technology direction, vision, and strategy and adoption.
- You will lead delivery as a subject matter expert in pipeline configurations, code repositories management and related controls.
- You will help lead incident resolution and resolution of business issues.
- You possess the ability to communicate effectively with an appropriate level of detail to all levels within the company
- You will lead identifying and managing capacity, performance, and risk
- You will adhere to and promote firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and are familiar with ITIL or other formalized IT operations foundations
Infrastructure Architecture & Strategy
- You will drive innovation and encourage others to remain current on emerging technologies and development trends
- You will lead initiatives to improve overall system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- You collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of APM and CICD processes.
- You will need to communicate effectively with stakeholders, including developers, QA engineers, and project managers.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Computer Science; or relevant work experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on infrastructure experience with at least 4 years in a technical team leadership role.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience and knowledge working with Application performance tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Open-minded with proven ability to work collaboratively with others

- Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed, heavily outsourced organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority.
- Ability and interest in mentoring technical staff and raising collective technical competencies.
- Ability to manage change and cope with complex and ambiguous situations.
- Broad engineering awareness of the following technical domains and expert technical expertise in at least two of the following areas –
- Swagger Hub, SonarQube, Jfrog or similar tools
- Code Repository Management (GIT)
- Monitoring & Instrumentation Tools (New Relic, Splunk or other APM tools)
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Java, Python etc.).
- Pipeline Technologies (CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
