Sr. Chief Scientist - Trapped Ions - 844
We are seeking a Sr. Chief Scientist – Trapped Ions in our Broomfield, CO Location. All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership across Quantinuum
- Lead improvements across quantum gates, ion cooling, ion transport, control systems and other technical areas required to advance trapped ion quantum computing
- Help form external partnerships that contribute to the success of Quantinuum
- Help lead IP generation and capture across the company
- Contribute to key Quantinuum technical decisions, in coordination with other Quantinuum technical leaders
- Communicate future technology needs to the larger organization
- Help plan the insertion of new technologies into Quantinuum products
- Apply previous experience in experimental laboratory research to develop quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits.
- Work with teams of scientists and engineers to bring new concepts to life.
- Performing design trade studies and analysis
- Contribute to the technical thought leadership of Quantinuum in quantum information science
- PhD completed prior to starting.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: ion transport, numerical modeling, quantum computing, experimental control system development, quantum information, atomic physics, electronics design, ion trap design, or ion trap fabrication.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen
- Experience leading R&D teams.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Experience with ion transport in surface traps
- Experience with trapping of ions or neutral atoms
- Experience with high fidelity quantum gates
- Experience with control systems for trapped ions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.
