Staff Psychiatrist (0.5-1 FULL TIME)

McLean Hospital, America’s top ranked psychiatric hospital is inviting applications for a 0.5-1.0 FTE Staff Psychiatrist (part-time or full-time with flexibility) in The OCD Institute located in Belmont, MA.  The OCDI is an adult residential and partial hospital program (PHP) which serves patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders.  The OCDI leads the way in the advancement of clinical care, education, and research to help patients, families, and health care providers understand and more effectively treat OCD.

The ideal candidate will provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, formulate individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients with OCD and related disorders and direct the ongoing care of patients.  The OCDI uses a team-based approach to treatment, which also includes behavioral therapists and family therapists as members of the team.

The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for providing clinical services including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. Communicates with other providers of mental health and medical services as appropriate. Maintains contact with family members as appropriate. Documents in the record by the completion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.  Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations. Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g. staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees, etc.)  Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues and participates in the hospital teaching and research efforts.

Salary and recruitment package in accordance with Hospital policies, and a Harvard Medical School appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor (full or part time) will be contingent on meeting the requirements for an HMS appointment and candidate qualifications including Massachusetts medical license and being board certified/board eligible.

Qualifications:

M.D. degree (or equivalent as confirmed by ECFMG), 3 to 4 years formal residency education in a program approved by the RRC of the ACGME.  ABP&N eligible or certified psychiatrist.  License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of MA.
