(Per employee handbook);</li><li>Report all Safety, Health &amp; Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner;</li><li>Attend all EH&amp;S training.</li></ul>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Melting unit operation (pumps blower’s etc.);</li><li>Monitor operation of equipment and perform adjustments as needed to insure equipment effectiveness;</li><li>Furnish Lab prelim requirements;</li><li>Document and maintain accurate records and logs;</li><li>Maintain a clean and orderly work environment;</li><li>Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment;</li><li>Install, remove, and monitor operation of preheat torches;</li><li>Follow all Melting techniques (Al’s, Melt Practices);</li><li>Perform metal weighing of additions (if qualified) and verify prelim additions are correct;</li><li>Some data entry of melt card/log required;</li><li>May be required to assist on multiple furnaces during a workday;</li><li>Perform coil changes which will include confined space, LTV and operating the overhead crane to remove and install coils;</li><li>Perform emergency and remedial procedures which may arise during the melting process;</li><li>Spout and entry changes;</li><li>Run the tube cleaner and keep area clean;</li><li>Hot top molds and clean molds as required;</li><li>Any other duties as assigned by Team Leader/Supervision;</li><li>Assist in the training of new team members as needed;</li><li>After training must be capable of running the “A”, “B”, “C” and W units.</li><li>Must successfully complete Melter’s training and certification within prescribed timeframe.</li></ul>MELTER RESPONSIBILITIES DURING FURNACE CHANGES<ul><li>Coordinate shift and shift-to-shift communication activities during furnace changes, with melt team and maintenance;</li><li>Record the progression of furnace changes on furnace change sheet and report any problems encountered to shift team leader;</li><li>Pass on status of furnace change to the next shift melt team members and supervision;</li><li>Complete furnace change safety audits:</li><li>Confined Space</li><li>Fall Protection&nbsp;</li><li>Lockout/Tag Out/Verify</li><li>Respirator Inspections</li><li>Be accountable for the timely completion of furnace changes;</li><li>Have all furnace changes supplies in assigned furnace change cabinet immediately following a furnace change;</li><li>Order any supplies that are not in stockroom (breathable air, out of stock items).</li></ul>JOB SPECIFICATIONSOther Skills/Abilities<ul><li>Must successfully complete Melter’s training and certification within prescribed timeframe.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and can read, write, and comprehend English.</li></ul>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED<ul><li>This position requires a satisfactory vision exam, passing Jaeger J1 at not less than 12 inches (30.5 cm) in at least one eye, natural or corrected;</li><li>Must pass all physical requirements which includes use of a respirator, mobile equipment including overhead cranes;</li><li>Frequent sitting and standing in a hot manufacturing environment</li><li>Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds</li><li>Use of various large and small tools, forklift/handcart, saws, cranes and measurement equipment;</li><li>Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, hardhat, hearing protection and clothing;</li></ul>MENTAL REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>Be able to understand complex written instructions;</li><li>Must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations;</li><li>Must be able to perform basic operation of a PC;</li></ul>DisclaimerThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
