Job Summary Registered Nurses in Tower 100 ICU of the Trauma Acute Care Surgical Svc. Center at UK Chandler Hospital provide care primarily for adult patients with trauma or acute care surgical conditions. Patient conditions include injuries resulting from blunt and penetrating trauma, and vascular surgeries. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. If the Director of Operations is also absent, a SCSP will determine which pharmacist should assume PIC duties. Strong clinical oversight and patient education is mandatory for high functioning specialty pharmacies. The UK Specialty pharmacy will improve clinic workflow, increase patient satisfaction, and increase the volume of specialty medications dispensed through UK pharmacies. The creation of a UK HealthCare Specialty Pharmacy will allow subspecialty care to be entirely managed within UK, avoiding the fractured care that currently exists by relying on external specialty pharmacies and manufacturer hubs. This position will provide a high patient-touch service while obtaining affordable access to these medications, both cornerstones of a high functioning Specialty Pharmacy. Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients.
