Responsibilities • Assess psychological and physical effects of cancer diagnosis and side effects of infused treatments • Use critical thinking skills to plan and implement interventions for solving patient problems within scope of nursing practice • Educate patients and family members on chemotherapy treatment, side effects and remedies • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment to ensure patient’s comfort • Maintain patient and staff confidentiality • Assess and access PACs and PICCs, Skilled in IVs • Execute prescribed treatment interventions, administer prescribed medications, and monitor patient response • Have knowledge of chemotherapy drugs and dosages according to cancer diagnosis • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections • Calculate treatment dosages and mix chemotherapy drugs • Ability to safely handle hazardous drugs and mixing equipment • Utilize knowledge of chemotherapy medications, cancer diagnosis, diagnostic procedures, and infection control • Be proficient documenting in electronic MAR and use of office equipment • Strong desire to work as a team with other nurses and staff • Demonstrate ability to effectively function in high stress environment • Ability to respond calmly and use critical thinking skills Qualifications<ul><li>Current RN license in the state of Utah </li><li>At least 12 months working experience as a RN </li><li>Have an active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) </li><li>Oncology experience highly preferred</li><li>OCN certification required after 2 years of employment</li></ul>

Reviews messages with physicians and responds as directed in a prompt and courteous manner. • Communicates test and lab results and transmits other information from provider to patient. Answers questions as appropriate. • Schedules referrals and follow-ups as needed; submits prescriptions per provider instructions. • Works with insurance companies, pharmacies as needed for prior authorizations. • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. • Keeps exam rooms clean and patient ready. • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, noting when supplies are needed. • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance. • Serves and protects the medical practice by adhering to clinic and professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. • Maintains CPR certification. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:&nbsp;• Completion of and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. • CPR certification (or completed within 4 months of hiring) • Working knowledge of medical terminology • Ability to bend, reach lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally is required. Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time. • Demonstrate excellent computer, telephone, and communication skills. • Outstanding customer service, organization, and attention to detail. • Must be a self-starter, a team player, dependable, friendly, and professional and be able to multi-task and work efficiently while remaining calm and productive. • Previous medical experience preferred but not required. Hours:&nbsp;4 1/2 days per week.
