Full-time Nursing Clinical Instructor (Med-Surg, Intermediate/Advanced)

Full-Time Instructor I, Nursing Clinical (Med/Surg)

Summary:<ul><li>Reporting directly to, and working closely with the Program Director, PA is responsible for maintaining clinical sites, student placements and contractual agreements and assisting the Manager, Clinical Relations with securing new clinical affiliations for the Physician Assistant program.</li><li>Provides support for clinical teaching faculty; serves as a facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.</li><li>Supports faculty and students assigned to clinical sites, makes phone or on site visits, mediates conflicts, records attendance, and supports clinical affiliations to ensure that the affiliations are sufficient in number to meet PA program requirements.</li><li>Remains current in applicable program field, participates in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions.</li><li>Participates in campus activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.</li></ul>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Is responsible for developing and maintaining student clinical placements with identified facilities. Proactively leads development of sites to meet current and future placement needs.</li><li>Identifies cored and effective rotation specialties.</li><li>Identifies clinical sites and creates schedules which support the student clinical requirements.</li><li>Creates reports for facilities.</li><li>Strengthens relationships with facilities.</li><li>Changes clinical placements (i.e. failing classes, last minute decisions, etc.) during the term.</li><li>Establishes and maintains communication lines between the clinical facilities, and staff as well as ACC where both institutions utilize sites.</li><li>Supports students completing clinical rotations, including phone or onsite visits.</li><li>Resolves conflicts / problems in the clinical setting with preceptors.</li><li>Collects and maintains appropriate documentation related to clinical education, such as health forms, CPR certification, student evaluations and site evaluations.</li><li>Completes agency preapproval required forms regulatory needs.</li><li>Works toward a consistent approach towards the management and development of clinical relationship vis-�- vis other West Coast University campuses.</li><li>Maintains accurate clinical site information database, including contact information and specific contractual agreement termination and expiration dates, and initiates renewal process timely.</li><li>Works with clinical affiliate staff to clarify policies and procedures specific to facility. Apprises clinical affiliate staff of student objectives in each clinical area.</li><li>Attends Advisory meetings to network and derive solutions to mutual concerns.</li><li>Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.</li><li>Assists with Identifying and developing new professional and Physician Assistant relationships for additional/new clinical sites.</li><li>Develops and maintains professional working relationships with hospital, medical office, and clinical site directors under current contract to the schools.</li><li>Evaluates insurance and liability issues related to clinical sites, and provides appropriate documentation.</li><li>Participates in providing schedule for Sim/Skills Lab.</li><li>Finds back up coverage for preceptor absences/vacation.</li><li>Apprises clinical affiliate staff of student objectives in each clinical area.</li><li>General Scope of Responsibilities: Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.</li><li>Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.</li><li>Adheres to University policies.</li><li>Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time off is recorded properly.</li><li>Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the University's Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and states laws, and applicable professional standards.</li><li>Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.
