As an assistant director of fitness and wellness, you will report to the director of University Recreation. You will serve as the primary weekday manager of SCADfit — the university’s state-of-the-art fitness center — coordinating all wellness programs and group exercise schedules for the department, and acting as a group exercise instructor for spin, HIIT, Pilates, or yoga classes. Your responsibilities also include onboarding and training group exercise instructors and student employees. Additionally, you will teach at least two classes each quarter and supervise and evaluate a SCADfit coordinator for fitness and wellness.In this role, you will be the primary contact for all faculty and security issues. Addressing health disparities and inequities that contribute to chronic disease development is a critical national priority, especially in Hispanic persons who suffer from extensive health disparities and often are characterized by earlier and worse chronic disease progression. UTEP is a focal point for education and biomedical research for Hispanics living on the US-Mexico border and has been intentional in supporting Hispanic Health Disparities research initiatives. Full/Associate Professor in Microelectronics and SemiconductorsThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications from outstanding candidates with expertise in microelectronics and semiconductors for a tenured full/associate professor faculty position.We are seeking candidates with exceptional scholarship and leadership track records to develop, recruit, and lead a faculty cluster dedicated to advancing microelectronics and semiconductor research excellence at UTEP. Candidates should possess a distinguished record of scholarship, leadership, and successful funding that qualify for a tenured position at the rank of full or associate professor. We will consider outstanding candidates who hold a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position with the potential for promotion to tenured associate professor as part of the hiring process.Candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute institutional and professional service, and develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regents' Distinguished Research Professor. Faculty hired at a lower rank will earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure.Job Requirements:A Ph.D. in electrical and/or computer engineering or a related field. Commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Substantial original contributions to research/knowledge/innovation as evidenced by a strong scholarship, patents, and other creative/entrepreneurial activities based upon the candidate's independent research/academic activities. Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding and developing a sustained research program. Demonstrated success in mentoring students, post-docs and junior faculty. Demonstrated leadership record in collaborative research projects. Demonstrated national and international recognition in the field as evidenced by honors and awards, invited presentations and publications. Postdoctoral Fellow - KinesiologyThe University of Texas at El Paso College of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Metabolic Nutrition and Exercise Research (MiNER) Laboratory, Department of Kinesiology. This role offers the opportunity to work on translational research projects focused on skeletal muscle metabolism in the context of diabetes and metabolic diseases. Our lab is dedicated to understanding how diet and exercise influence insulin action, lipid metabolism, and mitochondrial function in humans. By leveraging our access to a predominantly Hispanic population, we aim to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies for obesity and type 2 diabetes.
