Accountant
Office of Technology Management - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26003101)
The Accountant will be a part of the Accounting team within the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE). The role will be responsible for budget and accounting activities for the Institute of Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE) and Intellectual Property (IP) accounting for OIE.
Key Responsibilities:
IEE duties:
Monitor day-to-day financial activities and allocate revenue and expenses to appropriate accounts.
Maintain and enter all information into IEE's financial systems.
Reconcile actuals on a regular basis.
Create and analyze projections for grants and other operating dollars.
Process invoices, memberships, tuition dollars, sponsorships, and grant reimbursement.
Create monthly financial statements.
Assist with annual budgeting process.
Process employee travel and business review and reimbursements.
- OIE IP Accounting team duties:
- Manages fiscal and accounting functions; formulates and recommends policies and procedures to effectively administer programs.
- Maintains general ledger accounts; handles funds for units of small size/complexity; prepares general ledger journal entries.
- Reviews and prepares legal bills for payment.
- Prepares financial reports, invoices, schedules, or statements for review and approval.
- Reviews, analyzes, and approves expenditures including indirect costs, and determines fund balances; ensures compliance with grant/contract requirements and University policies and procedures.
- Prepares and reviews data and assigned accounts in preparation for internal and external audits.
- Researches discrepancies in accounting data which includes auditing and analyzing fiscal data; resolves issues in coordination with others.
- Assists with the planning, coordination, and implementation of budgets.
