About the role

  • The Accounting Specialist I primarily performs accounting responsibilities to assist the Controller and Senior Staff Accountant. This position will split time performing various accounting and administrative duties related to the maintenance of Allsup’s financial records and the remaining time will be responsible for making phone calls to SSA.

What you'll do

  • Prepare overpayment spreadsheets for client companies and accounts payable.
  • Post and balance the daily Social Security direct fee payments.
  • Post payments in cash application and ORS system.
  • Process and approve ACH transactions and account transfers.
  • Sort, scan, and distribute mail to the Accounting Staff.
  • Provides back-up support, on a regular basis, to various Accounting Staff, particularly Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform special projects as designated by the Controller or Senior Staff Accountant.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of claimant information, procedural manuals, client/prospect lists, information on new business ventures, and other confidential Allsup information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 6 months of work history or associate's degree with 2-4 years of work experience in the Accounting field or equivalent experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Organizational, detail-orientation and solid verbal and written communication skills, a must. Candidate must be able to perform recurring tasks on a daily basis in a timely manner with accuracy. Knowledge of the Social Security disability process preferred.
