GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION
Position Name: Chiropractic Science and Clinical Education Adjunct Instructor
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Benefitted
FTE: Less than 50% time
Work Hours: Variable
Department/Division: Clinical Science/College of Chiropractic
Supervisor: Associate Dean, College of Chiropractic

Location: On Campus (8000 NE Tillamook St; Portland, OR 97213)

POSITION SUMMARY
This position covers instruction for taping and casting course. The course provides hands-on laboratory training intended to provide the chiropractic student with the basic knowledge and skills to appropriately select and apply necessary support and protection with athletic/kinesiology tape, elastic wraps, plaster splints, and OTC braces when treating musculoskeletal injuries and other common conditions of the upper and lower extremities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
50% Prepares lessons and teaches procedures based on existing syllabus.
25% Demonstrates and monitors student practice of proper skills technique and patient interactions.
10% Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
5% Maintains a safe environment in the classroom.
5% Creates syllabi and course outline.
2.5% Contributes to evaluations of students’ non-cognitive behavior.
2.5% Maintains expertise in area of instruction.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Training

  • Required: Prior teaching experience in a university or professional education program preferred

Certifications & Licenses

  • Required: Graduate of a CCE-accredited Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) program.
  • Required: Maintain an active license to practice as a chiropractic physician in the state of Oregon (or acquire such licensure shortly after hire).

  • Required: Teaching Experience

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Required: Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. 
  • Required: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 
  • Required: Ability to access current electronic information.
  • Preferred: Expertise in evidence-informed practice skills preferred

Other Qualifications

  • Have sufficient stamina to provide lecture and/or lab instruction with brief breaks over a 1 to 4-hour period.
  • Have sufficient mobility to move among students engaged in various types of lab activities.
  • Have sufficient visual acuity to accurately identify pertinent structures and/or details as instructional activities demand.
  • Have sufficient manual dexterity to operate pertinent tools and/or equipment as instructional activities demand.
