Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences, Adjunct Faculty will work to follow the course syllabi and lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments that accommodate diverse learning styles, ensuring students achieve the course objectives and outcomes. They will apply learner-centered teaching principles to engage and inspire students, encouraging active participation throughout the educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for evaluating student performance according to CLSI standards for Phlebotomy practice, maintaining accurate and timely records, and ensuring the completion of attendance verifications, academic progress reports, and final course grades.

- Use developed course content, assigning relevant coursework that aligns with learning objectives and CLSI standards.
- Demonstrate competency skills and provide feedback to students for skill improvement.
- Maintain and manage necessary instructional materials and equipment, as needed.
- Participate in assessing student learning and progress to enhance course effectiveness.
- Accurately track and maintain skill records and assess student performance.
- Follow program guidelines and the coordinator’s approved coursework.
- Prepare and submit required reports regarding course/class performance as requested.
- Provide input to the Program Coordinator regarding student progress and skill performance
- Provide input to the Program Coordinator regarding curriculum, policy, and procedures
- Adhere to all applicable policies, including the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other relevant laws and regulations governing higher education at Rock Valley College.
- Commit to the community college mission
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Have at least two years’ experience as a medical laboratory Phlebotomy technician
- Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCP-BOC certification in Phlebotomy PBT (ASCP)CM certified
- Complete 9 CEU’s every three years to maintain ASCP certification
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge and proficiency in their content areas;
- Demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level.
- Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy SOPs and CLSI competency skills in the program discipline
- Evaluation of student achievement; provide feedback to improve skill performance.
- CPR certified
