As an Admin Assistant within the North Georgia Health Districtat the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: District Office in Dalton, GA.

Only current North Georgia Health District employees can apply for and will be considered for the position.

Job Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, performs a wide range of office administration duties for assigned functions or program areas, duties may be complex in nature and may involve access to confidential information. May research, investigate, and/or resolve program data or issues. Drafts documentation, reports, or presentations. Represents program or unit, provides information and assistance to internal and external customers.

  • Drafts documentation, reports, or presentations.
  • Assures the Children's First Program and Children's Medical Services Program operations include the accurate processing of paperwork, documentation, and record keeping of protected health information.
  • Conducts home visits as needed to assist in the comprehensive assessments of client care needs.
  • Assists with monthly orthopedic clinics and quarterly genetics and neurology telehealth clinics.
  • Assists six counties in District 1-2 in the promotion and enrollment of eligible children into the Children's Medical Services and Children's First Programs.
  • Participates in program outreach.
  • Works closely with other programs within the CWSN Unit, such as Early Hearing Detection and Intervention and Babies Can't Wait, to ensure linkage to all eligible services.
  • Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.
  • Participates in drills and exercises with the district.
  • Completes and mails bills, contracts, policies, invoices, or checks.
  • Manages mailings for financial updates on a weekly basis.
  • Reviews documents such as purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or hospital records in order to complete fees and charges due.
  • Assists Children's First with billing, processing referrals to appropriate programs to meet deadlines and policies of the CWSN Unit programs.
  • Reviews MCH assessment and closure paperwork as entered in SendSS.
  • Assists with any DFCS or Foster Care issues that may arise.
  • Attends VHN and EHR work groups with nursing leadership and shares updates and system changes with the department.
  • Assists in outreach and/or collaborative meetings and activities through the week
  • May occasionally attend health fairs on the weekend.
  • Ensures quality assurance of data for quarterly reporting purposes as requested by local and state staff.
  • Assists and trains new staff as needed on program procedures.
  • Assists in Medicaid member issues due to the continuous enrollment unwinding period and/or CMO process.
  • Attends webinars as available.
  • Ensures data accuracy for reporting between State CMS, District VHN IT, and CWSN units regarding referrals and Children's First assessments.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of VHN and SendSS Database.
  • Knowledge of billing and experience working with Medicaid and insurance providers.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
