The Applied AI Solutions Manager will play a key role in strategic use of AI and emerging technologies to drive critical business impacts through the delivering of data-driven solutions in the Drug Development function. A successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering projects independently or by leading teammates, ensuring alignment with the goals of our analytics team. Key Responsibilities:
AI Solution Design and Architecture:
- Lead the design of innovative AI solutions, ensuring that they are scalable, robust, and aligned with
organizational goals.
- Understand the designs and architectures within assigned projects and be able to relate them to information repositories with guidance.
AI Solution Development:
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of advanced AI solutions, including fine-tuning large language models and integrating internal data.
- Deliver solutions that improve the performance and scalability of AI systems, driving efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
Project Ownership and Delivery:
- Take a lead role in directing and implementing solutions for moderately complex, loosely scoped problems, with minimal guidance.
- Deliver projects independently or lead teammates to do so, ensuring timely completion and quality deliverables.
- Scope and define tasks for projects, typically with a duration of several weeks, with limited guidance. Proof of Concept (POC) Delivery:
- Lead and contribute to POC initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to validate AI solutions and address customer needs.
- Support strategic decision-making for project advancement, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and ensuring the potential for impactful results.
Team Collaboration and Enablement:
- Enable other technologist teammates to succeed by providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Create technical guides and facilitate developer touchpoint meetings to improve collaboration, efficiency, and knowledge sharing within the team.
Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with their needs and gaining their trust.
- Lead communication efforts with customers, addressing feedback and resolving issues to ensure satisfaction and ongoing adoption of the solutions.
Technology Enablement and Education:
- Drive continuous learning within the team, staying ahead of emerging trends and technologies.
- Enhance organizational knowledge of AI technologies through the design and facilitation of educational sessions, creating learning materials, and delivering demos to bridge technical concepts with stakeholder needs.
- Support the adoption of AI technologies across the organization, contributing to the overall strategy for technological growth and understanding.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of IT experience, with at least 2+ years of dedicated AI development experience. Candidates with
significant AI development experience may be considered even with fewer years of IT experience.
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with AI solution development and delivery, including large language models, fine-tuning, and AI system integration.
- Strong technical proficiency in data science tools, programming languages (preferably Python), and analytics frameworks.
- A track record of successfully directing and implementing solutions for moderately complex, loosely scoped problems with limited guidance to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills in identifying and resolving issues.
- Expertise in collecting, cleaning, and transforming data from various sources.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Leadership or mentoring experience within a technical team is a plus.
- Proactive, results-driven individual with a passion for AI technology, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to driving meaningful impact within the organization.

On-site Protocol
BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:
Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture.
