The Role
As an Alternative Accounting Analyst, you will have responsibility for all aspects of accounting operations for liquid alternative investment products. You will perform accounting and pricing functions and act as a contact for daily operational needs. The role requires daily, monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables, implementation of pivotal initiatives, and relationship management.
- Research and validate mutual fund impacts using accounting systems to accurately account for shareholder’s interests while maintaining Fidelity’s reputation.
- Identify areas for improvement across the organization to reduce financial exposure and risks.
- Execute sophisticated financial transactions and deliver accurate information to support all clients.
- Provide oversight for complex fund accounting, validate results, and conduct quality control of outsourced providers.
- Communicate with internal and external business partners to problem-solve and provide customer solutions.
- Perform daily and/or monthly reconciliations and reports.
- Identify issues with appropriate parties to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
- Provide leadership and assist with decision-making
- Perform daily tasks while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 3+ years’ experience in financial services
- 3+ years validating NAV components to ensure accuracy of final NAV. preferred
- Experience supporting Derivatives life-cycle events
- Strong analytical skills
- Problem solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across business units

The Team
The Alternative Accounting Team is part of the Fund Operations division within Fidelity's Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) business unit. The Fund Operations division provides back office operational support to Fidelity Retail and Institutional products, including books and records maintenance, securities' pricing, fund and security level performance analysis, financial reporting, and tax work. The team also provides support other business partners across the organization.
