Required License/Registration/Certification
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C). Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds; standing/walking for long periods of time.
Shift
Monday – Friday, Day Shift; primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hrs/wk); other hours and on-call as needed
Job Summary
The APP functioning within the Pediatric Forensic Medicine team collaborates with and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
The APP functions throughout the continuum of care to support and manage the complex needs of the identified population and may also work closely with the outpatient testing groups, the social work team, and external partners.
The APP is generally on a service-aligned team and manages the outpatient care with the team. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population in the consultative inpatient/ER setting or serve as a resource for the inpatient care team.
The APP has a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and education and is responsible for ensuring an environment of safe, quality care.
The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills and timely and compliant documentation. The APP also takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
