Position Information

We are seeking an experienced Integration & Development Applications Architect to lead application architecture, solution design, and the development of new technologies and integrations within our enterprise ecosystem. This role involves close collaboration across all business units and functional areas and plays a key part in organization-wide transformation initiatives by designing and implementing integrated solutions.

You will develop and recommend application architecture aligned with the District’s long-term IT strategy, lead planning and integration efforts, and standardize processes and technologies to ensure quality and consistency. This position designs enterprise-level solutions for applications and custom integrations, including major enhancements and interfaces. You will define and communicate application strategy across all organizational levels, establish programming, development, and security standards, and recommend new technologies and procedures.

Job Definition

Provides design recommendations based on the District’s long-term IT Strategy. Leads and oversees the planning, integration, policy development, quality, and standard development for the District’s IT application architecture. Provides solutions for enterprise level application and custom integration including major enhancements and interfaces, functions, and features. Recommends, communicates, and develops application strategy with all levels of the organization. Develops programming and development standards and procedures and recommends new technologies and methods.

Experience/Education

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, AND Six (6) years of progressively more responsible IT experience, including two (2) years of related architecture experience (architecture time may be concurrent);

OR

  • Ten (10) years of progressively more responsible IT experience, including two (2) years of related architecture experience (architecture time may be concurrent).

Preferred Licenses(s) and/or Certifications(s):

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) IT Service Management practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of the Utilities industry
  • Demonstrated architectural principles on Security first and budget control
  • Knowledge and experience of some of the following application areas:
    • GIS network modeling
    • Utility Outage management Systems
    • Utility AMI Metering systems
    • Telephony
    • Enterprise Content Management
    • Customer portals
    • SAP ERP
  • Extensive integration skills including JSON/XML, Web Services and integration technologies
  • Development experience using .net/Java plus multiple SQL databases
  • Azure or AWS knowledge from an applications hosting prospective
  • Solid foundation of the use of gen-AI within applications and in the development life cycle
  • Proven ability to communicate architectural decisions and architectural topologies using diagrams and written descriptions
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for communicating up, down and across the organization
  • Self-motivated professionals who can operate independently while work collaboratively with Business partners
  • Project management experience
