As employees of the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter, we do more than basketball. We are blazing trails toward winning championships on and off the court. We are pioneers and innovators. We look for people who push boundaries, who dream, who are committed to inclusivity – who want to contribute to Rip City!

As our Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Facility Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the engineering, maintenance, sustainability, and environmental services functions across the Rose Quarter campus, including the Moda Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Theater of the Clouds, and surrounding campus spaces.

The AGM of Facility Operations is responsible for ensuring the long-term reliability, efficiency, and readiness of all facilities while leading day-to-day operations that prioritize safety, sustainability, and service excellence. This role works closely with the AGM of Event Operations and Director of Capital Projects and Planning, collaborating to deliver a seamless guest and event experience across the campus.

DAY-TO-DAY:

Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Director of Facilities Operations, Director of Sustainability, and Director of Environmental Services, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
  • Serve as a key member of the Rose Quarter leadership team, aligning operational priorities with organizational goals, guest experience standards, and the long-term campus vision.
  • Support the development of policies, systems, and communication structures that promote proactive maintenance, safety, and exceptional service delivery across all venues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with inspectors, and regulatory agencies to ensure smooth permitting and compliance processes.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted partner to internal event teams, vendors, and venue tenants.
  • Partner closely with People & Culture on workforce planning, engagement, and retention initiatives for facilities and environmental services teams.

Facility Operations & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems to ensure reliability and efficiency across the Rose Quarter campus.
  • Own life-safety systems (fire/life safety, emergency communications) and code compliance (OSHA, NFPA, ADA), ensuring readiness for inspections and certifications.
  • Champion CMMS-driven preventive and predictive maintenance programs, asset tagging, and lifecycle planning across all major systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations while maintaining detailed facility documentation for inspections, audits, and capital planning cycles.
  • Partner with the Director of Capital Projects & Planning on facility renovation projects, infrastructure modernization, and long-term asset management planning.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring business continuity, emergency preparedness, and overall safety under all conditions.

Sustainability

  • Oversee and advance sustainability initiatives that reduce energy consumption, waste, and water use, supporting the organizational sustainability goals.
  • Partner with the Director of Sustainability to align programs with local, state, and industry standards, leveraging data to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility and innovation throughout all operations and maintenance practices.

Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for facilities operations and maintenance, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Implement OKR dashboards to track work-order performance, energy intensity, waste diversion, and proper documentation and reporting.
  • Oversee vendor and union workforce strategies, procurement, and performance management processes.

WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU:

  • Bring 8+ years of progressive experience in facility operations, engineering, or venue management, preferably within a multi-venue, arena, or large-scale campus environment.
  • Have a track record of successfully leading large, cross-functional teams spanning facilities, maintenance, and sustainability disciplines.
  • Have supported or overseen capital improvement and renovation projects, collaborating effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Possess a strong understanding of building systems, sustainability programs, and regulatory compliance (including OSHA, NFPA, and ADA standards).
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire teams and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Operate as a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to balance long-term vision with daily execution.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, adapting quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining a commitment to service and reliability.

WE’D BE THRILLED IF YOU ALSO HAVE:

  • Experience within sports, entertainment, or live events facilities management.
  • Familiarity with environmental management or sustainability certification programs (e.g., LEED).
  • Working knowledge of union environments, workforce planning, and vendor management best practices.
