Brief Job Overview/Summary
The Chemistry Program at Stockton invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Organic Chemistry beginning September 2026. We seek teacher-scholars committed to excellence at a primarily undergraduate-serving institution. Teaching responsibilities will include Organic Chemistry lectures and laboratories at both the introductory and advanced levels, and within the General Studies Program. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an active research program involving undergraduates, that leads to peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly outcomes. Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Teach 24 credit hours per academic year with lectures carrying 4 credit hours and laboratories carrying 2 credit hours with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Courses include organic chemistry lecture and lab at the introductory and advanced level as well as general studies courses
- Establish an active research program involving undergraduate students that leads to peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly outcomes
- Serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students
- Participate in service to the Chemistry program, University, community, and/or profession
- Support Stockton University’s commitment to diversity and inclusion
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field is required for appointment as an Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will be considered at the Instructor level until the doctoral degree is completed. Doctoral degree must be conferred within one (1) academic year of hire
- Expertise in organic chemistry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching undergraduate lecture and/or laboratory courses in organic chemistry
- Postdoctoral experience
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students in research
