We seek an energetic individual with enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to both teaching and advising. The selected candidate will teach courses in our undergraduate program, provide advising and other services to our students, as well as participate in meetings and events as a full-time faculty member of our department. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and broad potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship and serviceDuties and Responsibilities:Duties include but not limited to:Essential:• Provide instruction in both in-classroom and online environment.• Advise and mentor students.• Participate in departmental, college, and university-wide committees and activities.• Engage in scholarly activity, which may include original research, creative work, or other meaningful contributions to the advancement of the discipline.• Design and revise course curricula as necessary to maintain relevance with the changing demands of the field.Job Requirements:Required Qualifications:• Earned doctorate degree in relevant field (ABD candidates will be considered)• At least 2 years of prior teaching experience in higher education• Industry experience with software development• Knowledge and experience in the following areas: Data structures and algorithms, Software Engineering, Database management and application development, Web programming, and Computer Networking.• Knowledge and experience of the C/C++, Java and Python programming languages, which are used frequently in our program• Proven ability to effectively teach students from diverse backgroundsPreferred Qualifications• Knowledge and expertise and/or industry experience in computer security• Knowledge and experience in data science, machine learning, and data mining techniques, including practical applications and familiarity with relevant tools and frameworks (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, Scikitlearn, etc.In response to the Presidential proclamation, issued on September 19, 2025, imposing a significant fee on the entry of individuals with new H-1B visas, this position may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.Additional Information:Salary:Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
