Summary of Position
The Assistant, Theatrical Music will provide support to the Vice President of the Theatrical Music Department. This position involves a mix of creative, administrative, and logical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings
- Prepare meeting materials, take notes, track follow ups
- Organize and maintain files, scripts, production documents, cue sheets, reels
- Arrange travel & expense reports
- Organize and catalog project budgets past & present
- Assist in sourcing and researching songs, composers and artists for potential use in films
- Organize and catalog music submissions and audio files for easy access
- Support communication between music department and other departments both internally and externally
- Send out project briefs and cataloging submitted music per project
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Excellent organization and multitasking abilities
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Professionalism and discretion (especially on confidential or high profile projects)
- Strong knowledge of music across genres and a good ear for matching tone and emotion
- Familiarity with music licensing, copyright and publishing
- Proficient in excel, spotify & itunes, box, scenechronize
- Experience reading & breaking down scripts for music
- Prior knowledge of music licensing terminology
- Knowledge of film/tv composers
- Knowledge of various music genres, producers, artists
Nice to Haves
- 2-3 years’ experience working in music supervision/licensing/agency/sync team at label or publisher
