Faculty work collaboratively to ensure students are prepared to meet the evolving healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities.Position Overview:The Department of Nursing at Westfield State University invites applications for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty position with a focus in pediatric and/or maternal health nursing. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of nurse educators committed to preparing students to become compassionate, skilled, and reflective professional nurses. The Nursing Program at Westfield State University emphasizes evidence-based practice, cultural humility, leadership, and lifelong learning. Faculty members play an integral role in advancing the program's mission of fostering excellence in nursing education through teaching, scholarship, and service.** Position starting in the fall of 2026, the Department of Nursing is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position with an emphasis on maternal and/or pediatric health nursing. In January 2026, interviews for eligible applicants will start.Duties and Responsibilities:Duties include but not limited to:Essential:• Teach undergraduate nursing courses in classroom, lab/simulation, and clinical settings that reflect current professional standards and evidence-based practice.• Integrate knowledge from the humanities, physical, and social sciences to promote a holistic approach to nursing education.• Foster an environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and cultural understanding in nursing practice and education.• Provide excellence in teaching across different modalities including face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes.• Guide students in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment to provide patient-centered, ethical, and safe nursing care.• Engage students in the use of healthcare technologies and simulation to enhance clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.• Mentor students in developing leadership, teamwork, and effective communication skills essential to professional nursing practice.• Promote a spirit of inquiry and commitment to lifelong learning through scholarly activity, research, and continuing professional development.• Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and program improvement initiatives.• Contribute to departmental and university service, including committee work, advising, and community engagement.• Faculty provide academic advising and other support to students. Opportunities to advise student research are available and encouraged.Job Requirements:Required Qualifications:• Master of Science in Nursing (M.S,N.) with a total of at least 60 graduate credits (including credits for the degree)• A minimum of three years of recent full-lime experience in pediatric and/or maternal health nursing• Current licensure (or eligibility) in Massachusetts• The ability to teach other related courses in the nursing programPreferred Qualifications:• Doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or EdD) or evidence of doctoral study in progress.• Experience with curriculum development, simulation-based education, and evidence-based teaching strategies.• Record of scholarly activity, publication, or funded research.• Teaching experience at the baccalaureate levelIn response to the Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposing a significant fee on the entry of individuals with new H-1B visas, this position may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.
