Job Summary: Provide academic and transfer advising primarily to current and prospective Rock Valley College student athletes, and students enrolled in the FWS program. Provide academic and transfer advising services primarily at the Mulford Road location, but also Samuelson Road Center (SAML), Rock Valley College Downtown (RVC-D), Advanced Technology Center (ATC), and Aviation Career Education Center (ACEC) as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
1. Serves as liaison to Athletic Department and proactively assists in NJCAA academic guidelines and degree progress to assure that both progress toward graduation and athletic eligibility are met.
2. Provide information to current and prospective students regarding class selection, degree requirements, and transfer requirements.
3. Possess a thorough knowledge of campus curriculum and NJCAA compliance and eligibility bylaws
4. Support all students assigned via case management student support model in developing educational goals and implementing plans to support those goals
5. Maintain accurate case management notes using the College’s customer management software (CRM)
6. Collaborate with coaches, faculty, and other campus stakeholders regarding student-athletes' academic progress.
7. Maintain accurate records and files in compliance with all college and NJCAA rules and regulations.
8. Serves as liaison to coaches and college Registrar’s office to evaluate student-athletes’ collegiate history and ensure all RVC student-athletes meet NJCAA eligibility guidelines.
9. Communicate issues and concerns involving academic advising and student success to the athletic leadership, Dean of Students office, and campus committees as assigned or as appropriate.
10. Respond in a timely manner to student, faculty and coach inquiries. Regularly communicate with students regarding deadlines
11. Refer students to campus resources, such as tutoring, the writing center, counseling, etc
12. Collect data and complete reports as requested by supervisor, Dean of Advising and Retention, or Director of Athletics
13. Generates the Enrollment Exception Letter for the student athlete in compliance with Rule C.2.c, set forth by the NJCAA.
14. Compile transfer information, course changes, and other relative internal change information and provide this information to the advising and counseling staff and students on a timely basis.
15. Teach Student Development classes as needed or appropriate.
16. Lead and/or assist with New Student Orientation and/or recruitment registration events.
17. Assist as needed with Student Affairs, Enrollment and Retention Initiatives.
18. Serve on Rock Valley College committees as needed.
19. Assist with the coordination of Private and Independent Colleges and University Day (PICU).
20. Assist with the coordination of State University Transfer Day.
21. Assist with developing and updating transfer guides.
22. Coordinate transfer campus visits on and off campus.
23. Provide additional student support as determined by Director of Academic, Career, & Transfer Advising or Dean of Advising and Retention.
24. Assist Athletic Director with submitting NJCAA Eligibility documents by organizing eligibility binders to ensure all NJCAA affidavits, Tracers and Official High School and College transcripts are on file.
25. Regular attendance is expected.
26. Using tact and courtesy, the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree required.
-Experience working with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Educational Counseling, Adult Education, or related field is preferred.
-Student academic advising experience is preferred.
-Experience in post-secondary education is preferred.
-Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
