POSITION SUMMARY
The Authorization & Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing service authorizations and accounts receivable functions across multiple funding sources and programs, including Envision Vision Rehabilitation Center (EVRC) clinical services, People Reaching for Independence & Developmental Excellence (PRIDE) an HCBS Adult Day Program, and Targeted Case Management (TCM), for I/DD Waiver Services. This role ensures timely and accurate billing, reimbursement follow-up, and financial documentation in accordance with payer regulations and organizational standards.
This position reports directly to the Sr. Director, Workforce Readiness, with a dotted line to the Sr. Director, Rehabilitation Services. Time and responsibilities will be prioritized between the PRIDE program(s) and Clinical Service(s) billing needs, requiring a flexible, organized, and detail-oriented professional.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Manage and maintain accurate service authorizations for PRIDE, and TCM programs; cross train and assist with clinical service authorizations as necessary.
- Work closely with Revenue Cycle Coordinator and leadership to cross train and prioritize weekly workload.
- Submit and track authorizations through various insurance portals; retrieve necessary documentation and verify eligibility as needed.
- Perform insurance and funding source billing for medical services, HCBS, and grant-funded programs.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follows up on outstanding balances.
- Contact insurance companies and funding sources to resolve denied or unpaid claims.
- Reconcile payments and ensure accurate posting to client accounts.
- Support reporting and documentation for grant-funded services.
- Work with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate service documentation and billing compliance.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA, PHI, and confidentiality regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date client financial records within electronic systems.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance documentation as needed.

Job Requirements:
- This position is on-site in Wichita, KS.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred.
- Some college coursework or professional certifications in medical billing or finance strongly preferred.
- ICD-10 medical coding experience preferred
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in insurance collections, medical billing, or accounts receivable (AR) management, preferably in a healthcare, HCBS, or nonprofit setting.
- Experience with insurance portals, authorization processes, and reconciliation of aging AR.
- Familiarity with HCBS billing, Medicaid/Medicare, and grant-funded service billing preferred.
- Experience with disability populations (helpful)
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and billing/accounting software systems.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
