The Barista is responsible for exceptional customer service at Holy Grounds locations which includes defined level of product knowledge, presentation and quality of product, speed of service, sales ability, and good customer relations skills. Responsible for operating Holy Grounds as an independent unit and assuming all the responsibilities with that role since a manager is not present at all times. This person will work with management and co-workers to instill and foster the value of the Villanova Mission Statement and the Dining Services Mission Statement. This person will focus on our Core Values: Safety and Sanitation, Friendly Courteous Service, Quality, Meticulous Attention to Detail, and Safety. All of our associates should improve our systems and overall operation.

- Provides excellent customer service that is efficient, friendly and speedy to Holy Grounds customers. Greets each customer promptly and courteously. Treat each customer as your highest priority, being mindful of customers who are waiting.
- Shares coffee and tea knowledge while actively selling all products. Advises customers of new coffees or teas or featured items of the week. Prepares all drinks according to Holy Grounds standards.
- Maintains the cleanliness and attractiveness of the Holy Ground kiosk by keeping counters and displays cleaned and fully stocked. Makes sure all products are labeled correctly.
- Operates cash registers using proper cash handling techniques of Villanova Dining Services.
- Responsible for receiving and accurately verifying the daily bank and cash drawer reconciliation and deposit at the end of the shift.
- Assists manager with scheduling of student associates. Responsible for enforcing the uniform standards of all student associates.
- Completes the tasks assigned at each shift, ensuring that everything is ready for the next shift.
- Enforces and practices all safety and sanitation policies and procedures for Villanova Dining Services.
- Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Interest in coffee required. Will need to sample and test products for quality assurance.
- Cashiering experience of 1-2 years.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Dress and grooming appropriate for Holy Grounds Concept.
- Able to handle numerous tasks at once while prioritizing.
- High school diploma preferred
- Serv Safe certification preferred.
- Cash register knowledge is preferred.
- Will train on all coffee equipment.
- Espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and cash registers.
- Increased noise level around some equipment.
- Cleaning chemicals used.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently.
- Ability to sit stand for extended periods.
- Ability to push/pull up to 30 pounds independently.
- Ability to use various chemicals.
- Manual Dexterity.
