Summary/Objective:
The Events A/V Technician supports the technical operation and internal event production for non-exhibition audio/visual experiences across all Academy facilities.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the successful delivery of internal and public-facing events through the setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting, audio, and video equipment. This is a part-time, on-call position averaging approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Serve as on-call technical support for Academy-wide events.
  • Deploy, operate, and wrap in-house lighting, audio, and video equipment.
  • Assist with hybrid and teleconferencing meetings.
  • Support live-streaming events.
  • Test and troubleshoot A/V equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols put in place to ensure a secure and healthy work environment.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director, Events A/V.
Required Competencies:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion is required.
  • Access to timely and reliable transportation between Academy Campuses, often on short notice.
  • Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in theatrical lighting, technician, audio engineering, or teleconferencing support.
  • Strong knowledge of state-of-the-industry lighting, audio, live recording, and video equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate theatrical lighting and digital audio consoles.
  • Ability to resolve minor technical issues as they arise with audio, microphones, and lighting consoles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer service mindset.
  • A curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and perform under pressure in fast-paced, high-volume environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Zoom/ Zoom Rooms is a plus.
  • Customer service experience at museums, theaters, or cultural attractions is a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to occasionally move A/V equipment weighing up to 30 pounds for various events and productions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to two hours.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this role is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
