Become a Campground Operations, Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll perform a range of duties working in support for Camp Edison / Forestry on SCE Lands, working mainly in an outdoor environment and using tools and equipment for maintaining the recreational property. Camp Edison is located on the western shores of Shaver Lake, a beautiful rural mountain vacation destination. Our 252 campsites are available to the public. You will play a key part in supporting campground upkeep and maintenance at our “Camp Edison” campground. This could involve tasks like maintaining electrical systems, repairing facilities like restrooms and showers, managing grounds upkeep, and ensuring overall functionality of the campground to ensure customer satisfaction. In addition, you’ll be working alongside the Supervisor creating Camp Edison enhancement plans, as well as creating and implementing preventative maintenance procedures. This role also requires the ability to delegate tasks and act as a team lead.

Key Focus of Role
- Campground Operations: Act as a company representative to campers and recreational users in answering basic routine questions. Exercise effective communication & interpersonal skills with fellow co-workers, supervisors, and customers. Perform registration of campers, cash handling and general clerical duties.
- Maintenance Support: Support and respond to maintenance inquiries, including but not limited to: plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, other customer specific requests. Respond to Maintenance inquiries in a timely manner. Assist with and respond to campground infrastructure repairs and maintenance including but not limited to Camp Edison’s municipal water and sewer system. Assist with maintaining material inventory as it pertains to the maintenance department.
- Provide Supervisor Support: Act as a team lead, delegating tasks and providing direction in the absence of the supervisor. Providing functional direction and technical training to team members when necessary. Work alongside the maintenance supervisor in creating and implementing enhancement plans for Camp Edison. Work alongside Camp Edison’s Operations Supervisor and staff as well as Forestry Supervisor and staff to address needs of camp operations and Edison forestry lands.
- Safety & Emergency Support: Make routine patrol of campground, providing support, and enforcing campground regulations. Assist with emergencies within campground, following safety procedures as outlined by Southern California Edison’s APM as well as adhere to job specific JHA’s.
- Additional Duties: Assist Camp Operations and Forestry staff as needed. Operate Microsoft Office Suite and Camplife registration systems.
Responsibilities
- Performs contractor field safety observations on Safety Tier 1 High Risk, Safety Tier 1 and Safety Tier 2 contract partners. Enforces contractor adherence to the Life-Saving Compliance Tree Trimming Critical Observable Actions (COAs). Provides ongoing feedback on contractor's safety performance and corrective actions. Establishes success criteria, Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and monitoring goals for new programs, examining plans and specifications to determine work procedures and costs.
- Performs contractor field environmental observations. Enforces contractor adherence to standard and site- specific environmental requirements that drive environmental compliance.
- Facilitates field calibration and orientation sessions with contractors to review SCE expectations, align with SCE evolving priorities related to reduction in wildfire risk and customer service, and identifies trends and corrective actions where quality of work does not meet expectations.
- Performs Post Work Verification (PWV) on Pre-inspection and Tree Trimming work and identifies and assigns rework to contractors when quality expectations are not met. Passes a verbal and field practical Personnel Qualification Standard (PQS)) prior to performing these duties.
- Provides input to annual work plans to optimize the execution of work and identifies associated contract resource needs, partners with RPPM to ensure schedule adherence of planned and emergent work.
- Investigates tree-related outages to determine root cause. Documents and communicates observations and investigatory results to first line supervision, using standardized templates and forms.
- Serves as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert on utility vegetation management programs and regulations and represents SCE VM to OU partners, the public/homeowners and County, City, and state/federal agencies.
- Monitors and evaluates operational costs and performance of tree trimming and vegetation maintenance contractors, reviewing and approving contractor safety and billing documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Supports the development, evaluation and implementation of new methods for line clearance and vegetation management in compliance with applicable regulations, standards and company tactical and strategic objectives.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders (internal and external to SCE) in order to set project goals, prioritize new initiatives and programs, and maintains a documented vegetation management program strategy that meets key stakeholder expectations.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in vegetation management.
- ISA Certified Arborist
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in facility construction, maintenance or repair work such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, or similar field.
- Three or more years of experience providing functional direction to team members (for example, when supervisor is not on site or acting as team lead.).
- Three or more years of experience in customer relations.
- Three or more years of experience in the Trades or possess a CA Contractors license.
- Willingness and ability to drive, traverse on uneven surfaces, occasionally lift up to 40 lbs, sit/ stand for extended periods of time, and work in various weather conditions.
- Experience and ability to read and follow building plans.
- Experience operating equipment such as but not limited to front loader, skid steer, backhoe, etc.
- Experience and understanding of how a municipal water systems functions.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- The primary work location for this position is Camp Edison – Shaver Lake, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at Auberry, CA and other nearby locations.
- This position is 40hrs/5 days a week and has option for a Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday work schedule.

Salary range
- $101,900 - $152,800 per year
