Job Summary

Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of CARES Career Coordinator. This position focuses on supporting students’ career development and career readiness by building strong connections between academic programs, faculty, employers, and community partners. The Career Coordinator plays a key role in helping students explore career options, prepare for employment, and successfully transitioning from education to the workforce.
The Career Coordinator provides comprehensive career services, including career exploration, job readiness support, and employer engagement. This position collaborates closely with faculty, workforce partners, alumni, and community organizations to align student pathways with regional workforce needs. The Career Coordinator also tracks outcomes, assesses the effectiveness of career initiatives, and supports data-informed strategies that strengthen student success and post-completion employment outcomes.

Job Duties:

• Assist in establishing and maintaining the BSCTC Career Center and related career development initiatives.
• Provide leadership, coordination, and daily oversight of the CARES Center(s) and all related advising and career services functions.
• Deliver comprehensive career services, including career exploration, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, career assessments, employer engagement, and job-placement support.
• Collaborate with faculty to bridge academic programs with relevant career and employment opportunities for students.
• Design and facilitate workshops, events, and resources that strengthen student career pathways and workforce readiness.
• Support students in developing career readiness skills and competencies needed for successful employment and workforce transition.
• Collaborate with employer partners, community organizations, and internal stakeholders to enhance student support services and career development opportunities.
• Collect, track, analyze, and maintain quantitative and qualitative data related to career services and employment outcomes.
• Utilize career technology platforms, including Handshake, to connect students with employers, internships, and job opportunities, and to track career engagement and outcomes.
• Support and promote competency-based learning approaches that help students develop career-ready skills.
• Partner with internal departments, including workforce solutions and academic divisions, to align career services with student success initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to career services, employer engagement, and student outcomes.
• Stay informed of regional labor market trends, workforce needs, and best practices in career development to support continuous improvement.
• Serve as a success coach at times for career pathways. Providing proactive outreach, intrusive advising, academic guidance, and individualized career support.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Career Services, Student Affairs, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in advising, career services, student support services, or a related higher education environment.
• Experience in career advising, student coaching, and workforce preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to support students with career exploration, job readiness, and workforce preparation
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, leadership, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Career Services, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Five (5) or more years of experience providing career services, career advising, workforce development, or student support services in a higher education or workforce setting.
• Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with employers, industry partners, and community organizations to support internships, experiential learning, and employment opportunities.
• Experience collaborating with employers and faculty.
