Pay Range

$83,200.00-$114,400.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The Category Manager Transportation plays a key role in supporting the procurement and management of transportation services across assigned transportation/logistics categories. The Category Manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of logistic strategic initiatives aimed at improving service quality, optimizing costs, and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency of the JM Business Units. This role requires a strong understanding of the transportation needs of JM Business Units and works closely with Logistics Senior Leadership to ensure alignment with business priorities. The Category Manager will lead the implementation of solutions that meet or exceed expectations across the organization.

Key responsibilities include leveraging foundational experience in transportation procurement, applying strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for improvement, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to drive value throughout the JM supply chain.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Lead Strategic Sourcing Initiatives – Support the development, prioritizing and execution of strategic sourcing plans for assigned transportation categories.
  • Manage Transportation Provider Relationships - Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with transportation service providers to ensure consistent service quality and performance.
  • Support Contract Negotiations – Develop and manage category bids, lead rate and contract negotiations, vendor evaluations and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance - Monitor transportation services to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal policies.
  • Analyze and Report Performance Metrics - Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Process Improvements - Identify and implement process enhancements and industry best practices to improve efficiency and service that align with the priorities in Logistics and greater JM organization.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally - Work closely with cross-functional teams and leadership to support logistics and broader supply chain initiatives.
  • Align Carrier Performance with Business Needs - Partner with Business Units to ensure transportation providers meet operational and service requirements aligned with business objectives.
  • Support Departmental Goals - Perform additional duties as assigned to contribute to departmental and organizational success.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant transportation procurement experience
  • Strong knowledge of transportation procurement and logistics operations (van, flatbed, intermodal, LTL, and/or parcel)
  • Proven ability managing supplier relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of contract development and contract law
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Minimal travel required (5–10 days per year)
