Also involves some risk of injury from moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, temperature extremes, loud noises, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and recombinant DNA or viral vectors.ShiftMonday-Friday 11am-730pmJob SummaryResponsible for the transportation, processing, and support of surgical instrumentation throughout the hospital specifically the OR areas on 2nd floor and 5th floor. Duties include delivering clean case carts and sterile instrument carts to operating room (OR) areas, retrieving contaminated carts and used instruments, and returning them to Central Sterile for decontamination and reprocessing.

Assists with assembling and processing surgical instrument trays, maintaining cleanliness of the department and workstations, answering phone calls, and responding to OR requests throughout the shift. Provides ongoing support to Central Sterile Technicians to ensure efficient workflow and timely instrument availability.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesBasic knowledge of aseptic techniques following the universal standard precautions. Must be able to adhere to UK HealthCare policies, read and follow manufacturer guidelines. Central sterile processing certification required within 18 months of hire.Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
