Description
Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Chief Digital Strategy Officer to provide strategic leadership and drive enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives across the laboratory's operations.
This position will report to the Deputy Laboratory Director for Management and Operations and Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead strategic planning and implementation of enterprise digital transformation initiatives, with emphasis on integrated platform solutions to enhance operational efficiency and establish future-ready processes.
- Provide executive leadership in aligning business objectives with integrated technology platforms to streamline operations and enable real-time, data-driven decision-making across all laboratory functions.
- Drive cost optimization and productivity improvements through application rationalization, process optimization, and strategic migration to cloud-hosted SaaS platforms.
- Develop and execute comprehensive cybersecurity strategies and programs, ensuring end-to-end capabilities across all framework areas: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover.
- Lead cross-functional integration across all functions to deliver enterprise-wide solutions.
- Build and manage high-performing teams to successfully deploy large-scale enterprise platforms and drive digital innovation.
- Establish strategic partnerships with technology vendors to accelerate digital transformation.
- Leverage Generative AI technologies in conjunction with enterprise platforms to transform business workflows, accelerate innovation, and enhance strategic decision-making.
- Eliminate project-based mentalities and implement capability-based strategies focused on quarterly release plans and agile methodologies.
- Communicate technology strategies effectively and secure commitment from executive leadership and stakeholders for enterprise transformation initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise technology and digital transformation, with at least 10 years in senior executive roles (CIO, CTO, or equivalent)
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale enterprise solutions with demonstrated ROI of $500M+ across multiple industries
- Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations and integration with other enterprise platforms (Salesforce, PTC, Oracle, Siemens)
- Experience in regulated industries such as Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Utilities, Aerospace & Defense, or similar highly regulated environments
- Demonstrated success in leading global teams of 500+ employees and managing annual technology budgets of $100M+
- Experience with cybersecurity program development and implementation, including incident response and regulatory compliance
- Strong background in agile methodologies (SAFe) and capability-based operating models
- Experience with cloud migration strategies and SaaS/PaaS implementations
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Requirements:
- Six Sigma certification and process improvement expertise
- Recognition as industry thought leader (CIO awards, industry publications)
- Experience with Generative AI integration in enterprise environments

- The pay range for this position is $375,000 - $430,000. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
