About the Position
As a Clerk Function Technician 1 (Assessment & Taxation Technician 1) for the Customer Relations team, within the Division of Assessment, Recording and Taxation (DART), you will provide sincere and authentic customer service to the public to internal customers, responding to a wide variety of questions related to clerk functions and provide backup support to the property tax and ownership team functions.
Responsibilities include:

- Assist customers on the phone, through email, and at a public count with general inquiries relating to marriage license, domestic partnership registrations, recording documents and the Property Value Appeal Board (PVAB)
- Record documents in person and electronically
- Cash handle; collect processing fees and balance drawers daily
- Ensure security with a cash drawer, ensuring it’s locked when not in use and maintaining awareness of key location at all times
- Verify marriage license in preparation for delivery to State Vital Records, errors resolved by phone call or letter
- Create and maintain permanent index of recorded documents; scanning and recording them
- Create packets to be provided to customers
- Assist with scanning and data entry
- Utilize multiple software systems and office equipment
- Provide back-up support to the other functional areas of the DART Customer Relations Unit

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
- Two years of experience servicing the public and/ or providing customer service to include problem solving responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. - Experience providing customer service in a public service or government environment while following established rules, laws and regulations
- Experience de-escalating customer concerns in-person, email or over the phone
- Additional specialized experience, including the application of laws, policies and procedures is desirable
- Experience in cash handling and fee collection with minimal shortages
- Data entry with high accuracy

This recruitment may be used to fill full-time, part-time, temporary, limited duration and on-call positions.
Type of Position: This is an hourly, represented position that is eligible for overtime.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; There may be some flexibility with scheduling, and daily start and end times.
