Job Summary

The Clinical Risk Nurse Paralegal provides clinical and paralegal support to the healthcare enterprise’s risk management program. Reporting to the Director of Risk Management and Risk Litigation Counsel, this role supports the investigation, analysis, and management of clinical events and Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP), with a focus on patient safety, loss prevention, and enterprise risk mitigation.
This position performs key paralegal functions related to threatened and active litigation, including preparing detailed analyses of clinical care, coordinating and participating in witness interviews, and supporting litigation strategy. The Clinical Risk Nurse Paralegal prepares materials for the Risk Management Committee, professional liability insurance carriers, and contributes to the overall strategies and operations of the Risk Management program.
Working closely with clinical providers, physicians, operational leaders, and legal counsel, the Clinical Risk Nurse Paralegal helps identify trends, reduce the frequency and severity of adverse events, and strengthen systems of care, participating in event investigation and root cause analysis at all UK HealthCare facilities, including the Community Hospital system. Other duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs.
