Overview
The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machinery and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role supports production through preventive maintenance, machine alignment, equipment installation, and general facility maintenance including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and adjustments.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic malfunctions on CNC equipment.
- Repair or replace defective components such as servo motors, drives, pumps, valves, and related systems.
- Wire, install, and troubleshoot 3-phase electrical systems (208–460 volts).
- Align multi-axis CNC machines to improve accuracy, performance, and product quality.
- Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new and used CNC equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain CNC control systems, including:
- Fanuc
- Okuma
- Mitsubishi
- Perform general facility maintenance, including:
- Electrical system troubleshooting and repairs
- Basic plumbing maintenance and repairs
- HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting
- Operate forklifts to move equipment, parts, and materials (must be forklift certified).
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime and reliability.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Required
- CNC machine maintenance and repair experience
- Working knowledge of 3phase electrical systems (208–460V)
- Experience with Fanuc, Okuma, and Mitsubishi controls
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- General facility maintenance experience (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain
Preferred
- Knowledge of anodizing process controls
- Experience with multi-axis CNC alignment
- CNC equipment installation and commissioning experience
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of CNC or industrial maintenance experience preferred
Work Environment & Competencies
- Manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to machinery and electrical systems
- Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work in confined or elevated spaces
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, attention to detail, safety awareness, teamwork, and time management
