Required Related Experience

Basic computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications as well as an understanding of database management. Excellent attention to detail.

Sitting for periods of time working on a computer, able to lift boxes up to approximately 30 pounds. Able to push or pull objects up to 50 pounds.

Job Summary

The Colonial Dames intern will arrange and describe the Jefferson family papers. The materials concern the family of Peter Field Jefferson and comprise primarily correspondence, as well as memorabilia, books, ledgers, photographs, and realia. Upon completion of the project, the intern will give a presentation on the papers to the Lexington chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Attention to detail, legible printing, filing, research, and writing skills. The student should have the ability to follow department procedures and policies and to work without close supervision. It is expected that the student assistant will maintain a regular work schedule.
