Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is seeking a Commercial Lending Assistant. This position could be located at 1200 Forest Bridge Road, Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate for this position must provide exceptional member service to ensure a seamless loan process. This role will provide administrative support to commercial lending staff, interact with clients and third-party vendors, input commercial loan applications, and execute funding of loan packages. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist lenders with various tasks such as obtaining and reviewing documents from borrowers, construction draw requests, ordering third party reports for loan transactions, appraisals, title work, environmentals, etc.
  • Input commercial loan applications into credit system
  • Prepare lending packages and fund loans
  • Perform daily loan maintenance, monitor exceptions, and update reports
  • Collect and file financial information from clients
  • Act as the point of contact between lenders and employees/clients as necessary
  • Review upcoming maturities with each officer and determine what financial information is needed in order to renew credit
  • Serve as backup to other documentation specialists
  • Perform research needed to resolve client problems in a timely manner
  • Ensure loans are booked correctly and collateral is forwarded to appropriate department
  • Ensure that all documents have proper signatures, dates, disclosures and other relevant data
  • Work closely with other members of department to ensure exceptional service is provided to client base

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge of processing, underwriting and closing procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of credit union’s policies and procedures, lending procedures and credit policies
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations
  • Ability to analyze policies, procedures and guidelines in a way that maximizes productivity but protects the level of risk desired
  • Must be able to establish productive business interpersonal relationships with others inside and outside the organization and to work with little direct supervision in carrying out the responsibilities assigned
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Internet Explorer
  • Must have flexibility in working schedule; may be required to work weekends and/or extended hours. Reliable attendance is critical
  • Ability to operate standard business equipment: fax, copiers, printers, calculators, computers, etc.
  • Ability to present professional image
  • Ability to handle sensitive documents or other confidential information
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to perform multiple job functions and tasks with minimum supervision
  • Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of employees, officers, and directors
  • Must have attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and deal tactfully with clients (internal and external)
  • College degree preferred, with a demonstrated mastery of loan processing principles. However, a combination of experience and education may be substituted for degree requirements
  • Experience and overall understanding of loan systems and various related host systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise and temperature
  • Sitting for long periods
  • Standing, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Extended viewing of CRT screen
  • Occasional travel to branch offices, seminars, and various training courses may be required
