Shift

Hours are flexible, typically ambassadors work 10 hours per week. One one-on-one meeting per week is required; meetings are usually held via Zoom. Can work remotely. All software used is cloud-based, but a laptop and access to the internet is necessary.



Job Summary

Commercialization and Innovation Leadership Program (CILP) Description:


The Commercialization and Innovation Leadership Program integrates leadership, mentorship, and intentional professional development opportunities with an internship that will translate into impactful experience upon graduating. Ambassadors will gain valuable knowledge and experience in academic innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship paired with translatable experience that leverages your strengths, while also creating an environment to learn and finetune new skills to maximize your potential. Upon successful completion of the program, ambassadors will be able to find work in their field, have experience networking in a professional capacity, and demonstrable examples of leadership during their tenure.



Within CILP, there are different tracks for participation, including: marketing and communications, investment, social innovation, and commercialization. Each track begins with the foundational knowledge around innovation and commercialization, followed by specialized knowledge and training specific to the track. Additionally, ambassadors will be mentored and have opportunities to build and expand their professional network.

Venture Analyst Description:


As a Venture Analyst at Invest Blue, you will play a critical role in evaluating potential investment opportunities for our angel investors. This role offers hands-on experience in startup evaluation, venture capital, and deal flow management.


Ambassadors will work with UK Innovate’s Invest Blue team to:


· Conduct initial screening and preliminary due diligence on potential startup investments.
· Assist in market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling.
· Prepare company briefs and present findings to the team.
· Monitor and track deal flow, maintaining organized records of investment opportunities.
· Attend and participate in pitch meetings, taking detailed notes and assessing the viability of deals.
· Collaborate with Invest Blue leaders and advisors to refine recommendations.



Additional projects/activities include participating and completing the Commercialization and Innovation Leadership Program (CILP) Training during your role as an ambassador.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Desired Qualifications & Skills:


● Strong analytical and research skills, with attention to detail.
● Interest in finance, startups, venture capital, and/or entrepreneurship.
● Proficiency in Excel or other financial analysis tools.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
● Ability to synthesize data and make informed recommendations.
● Prior experience in finance, investment analysis, or consulting is a plus.
