About the role:
This role will heavily feature Project Management of New Product Programs (NPP). Responsible for attending weekly project meetings and providing updates as liaison for the Strategic Sourcing group. Responsible for delegating parts, communication to the group of schedule, and minimizing delays to the product introduction process. Requires leadership role in coordinating with all facets of the supply chain, including transportation, quality, engineering among other functions. The person will also have several suppliers to oversee. Overall responsibility for source selection, supplier relationships, cost reduction, negotiation, performance over designated commodities. This includes issuing RFQs, quote analysis, development of new suppliers, and conducting market studies of commodity items. Coordinate activities with material planning to minimize supply chain interruptions.
What you will do:
- Attend and participate in NPP weekly Cross Functional Team meetings. Currently 6 major projects in progress - M20 ckp, M20 Magellan, Evolt, Quad Mast, Eos Refresh, & Eos Efficiency. Each will have at least once weekly meetings for updates.
- Communicate schedule with team to ensure clarity. Prepare for and present schedule updates to the team at least monthly. Need to have dates readily available and quick responses to CMs for communicating with suppliers.
- Track NPP parts for delivery and cost. Each project may use a different method for tracking but overall, need system to update team on PO status, delivery, and quotes for cost roll. Manage internal documents for accuracy. In order to do this, must be proficient in both AX and BPCS. Intermediate to Advanced excel skills required.
- Responsible for being able to understand bills of materials. Requires ability to analyze NPP BOMs to separate purchased parts to create a new part list or confirm order quantities required. Some familiarity with BOMs or Engineering structures preferred.
- Responsible for reading engineering drawings released by Engineering in order to delegate parts to the appropriate CM. Parts will be released via trial order, Windchill, or AX.
- In commodity manager role, will receive drawings from engineering to source. CM will be expected to send requests for quotes, negotiate, and award business. CM should be able to issue POs in both BPCS and AX. CM will need to be able to understand and perform in 2 ERPs - AX and BPCS as well as strong capability to learn other supporting systems.
- Responsible for negotiating pricing, contracts, and escalated delivery issues. Responsible for creating a strategy for commodities controlled to determine short and long term paths with suppliers. Responsible for developing relationships with these suppliers in order to understand their current situation and have a successful business partnership. Should be able to understand criteria for vetting suppliers to understand risk level.
When & Where:
Hybrid work environment - in office 3 times per week after initial training period. Expected to be in office 5 days/week for first 3 months to train with colleagues, build relationships in and outside the department, and have access to the plant.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
- Makes customer satisfaction a priority in all business decision making
- Expresses self clearly, both in writing and speaking
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teammates
- 5+ years relevant experience in Purchasing or Project Management
- Takes initiative to develop trusting relationships with teammates
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
What would be nice to have:
- CPM, APICS, PMP Certification
- Relevant knowledge of quality systems, lean manufacturing processes
- Strong, proven project management skills
- AS400 or Microsoft AX Dynamics experience
- Experience working with Bills of Materials
- Experience budgeting for capital expenditure
