Job Responsibilities

Manages the planning and implementation of the Tuberculosis and STI programs. Monitors TB skin test and respiratory protection requirement compliance for employees in accordance with the Occupational Health Requirements for Public Health Workers Policy.

Manages the planning and implementation of the TB and STD program

  • Develops strategies to advance the TB/STD program based on data collection and programmatic assessments.
  • Provides professional nursing and technical consultation in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures for the TB, HIV, STD, and other general notifiable diseases protocols.
  • Convenes regular TB clinical team meetings to discuss and resolve issues and concerns of complicated TB cases and contact investigations.
  • Develops and implements the NCHD TB/STD quality assurance audits.
  • Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of such diseases.
  • Prepares and completes reports and surveillance activities as required by the District Leadership and DPH partners.
  • Participates in Infection Control Steering Committee, local APIC chapter, and monthly Epidemiology Partners meetings.
  • Responsible for updating the Dashboard with assigned measures in a timely manner.
  • Attends conferences, educational webinars and meetings to increase knowledge of best practices in the field of communicable disease.
  • Participate in training to develop skills in quality improvement, communication, communicable diseases, health equity, and tolerance/cultural competency.
  • Manage contracts associated with the TB program.
  • Acts as the liaison to the State TB and STD Office

Acts as the subject matter expert for the District, providing technical assistance and training for public health nursing staff and other stakeholders.

  • Provides technical assistance, consultation, and training related to resources and interpretation of state/federal TB and STD guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure all clinical personnel receive initial and annual training as needed.
  • Ensure programmatic changes are disseminated to the county nurses.

Manages the budget allocation for the program.

  • Maintenance and compliance of budgets and work plans.

Works with county health department staff to engage community partners, including school districts, to advance the immunization program.

  • Disseminates pertinent school-based flu Project information and works with the county health departments as needed to coordinate school-based flu efforts.
  • Attends Flu Stakeholders’ Meetings via phone conference.
  • Submits accountability forms to the state after an SBF event.
  • Submits all billing information to the state office for reimbursement after all SBF clinics are completed.

Manages Employee TB Skin testing and Respiratory Protection Requirements according to the Occupational Health Requirements for Public Health Workers Policy

  • Works with Immunization Program Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of nursing experience and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; two (2) years of experience at the lowerlevel PH Nursing Prog Consultant 1 (HCP210) or position equivalent and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Public Health clinical or programmatic management. Federal or state budget management. At least 1 year experience working with TB/HIV/STD/Hepatitis

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
