Description

Under limited supervision, develops and implements campaigns and communication programs for social or community outreach. Leads and develops strategic planning efforts, and creates/develops communication materials, techniques and/or tools. Serves as agency Public Health Officer. May also serve in lead role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Public Information Officer for the agency
  • Coordinates with publications and printing/graphics staff to implement the concepts, designs, and specifications for publications, according to established policy, regulations and budgetary guidelines
  • Directs the taking and selection of appropriate photographs for publications
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with area business community, internal and external agency customers and other related contacts
  • Manages projects/campaigns
  • Outlines advertising strategies
  • Oversees printing production, consults with printers and performs inspections of job-in-progress ensuring established standards are met
  • Oversees related communications, acts as program expert, and facilitates implementation of plans with management and/or staff
  • Plans and integrates the approach of the programs, activities and initiatives through media relastions, community relations, and publications
  • Produces and distributes informational material in a variety of media
  • Promotes goals and objectives of the program in all forms of media

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma/GED AND six (6) years of experience communications or job-related experience; OR one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Communications Spec 3 (GSP042).

  • Knowledge of Public Health or Government Communication
    • Understands policies, procedures, and services related to public health (or the relevant agency focus)
    • Can translate technical or scientific information into accessible messaging

Salary range

  • $60,000 - $65,000
