SUMMARY:
The Core Systems Engineermonitors daily operations of core processing systems and enterprise job scheduler while addressing issues. This involves monitoring system health, completing upgrades, and acting as an escalation point to resolve issues critical to the core. This involves verifying job completions, verifying files from 3rd party vendors and reviewing server and environmental status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop subject matter expertise of core banking solutions, maintaining an expert level of knowledge pertaining to features and functionality of all modules and ancillary products/services.
- Work closely with business partners to configure and test changes to Core banking platform, ensuring progress on corporate initiatives and projects
- Automate Core processes for streamlined, more efficient workflows
- Assist business partners with cross-functional projects requiring core system changes, adhering to change procedures and windows
- Use the core system test environment to mitigate post-release issues and to develop enhancement requests.
- Support maintenance functions such as vulnerability patching, semiannual Core banking system upgrades, database patching, and application update installations
- Serve as back up to critical Core Systems functions as necessary; cross trains as key functions are added within the department to ensure all tasks are appropriately covered, provides training to Core Systems Technicians to ensure appropriate skill levels with Core Systems software, including training new hires within the department.
- Create queries and stored procedures to fulfil report requests from business partners
- Provide management with critical feedback and recommendations for process improvements and system enhancements
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Ability):
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field field (or equivalent experience and education) preferred.
- 2+ years preferred proven experience with Fiserv DNA core banking systems.
- Strong knowledge of banking operations, processes, and regulations.
- Familiarity with system architecture, integration, and cloud technologies.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as SQL, Java, or Python.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Familiarity with using AI tools to enhance productivity, troubleshooting, and analysis.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision to identify colored labels, cables, and indicator lights.
Use of computer workstations at desk height and use of server consoles while standing. Installation, removal or termination of cabling, in communications closets and office settings. Occasional use of ladder to reach cables or hardware in ceilings or near top of computer hardware racks. Installation or removal of computer hardware into server racks.
