Crew Supervisor - Water Distribution
Under general supervision, supervises an assigned crew in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City's water and waste reclamation systems.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*
Essential Job Functions:
- Trains, directs, supervises, and evaluates personnel.
- Enforces Department safety guidelines.
- Installs, maintains and repairs water and wastewater lines and mains.
- Operates and supervises the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment.
- Installs new service taps.
- Oversees the proper set up of specialized equipment.
- Oversees the restoration of work sites to their original condition including spreading top soil and laying sod.
- Installs Automated Meter Reading (A.M.R.) meters.
- Performs underground boring and high pressure chlorination.
- Installs auto flushers on dead-end lines.
- Drains, cleans, and disinfects water tanks.
- Takes out and occasionally replaces concrete driveways and sidewalks.
- Uses a camera to film sewer lines and inputs information into computer.
- Flags traffic at work sites.
- Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Raises and lowers valve boxes and manholes.
- Repairs fire hydrants, water meters, meter boxes, and service lines.
- Assists other departments as assigned and appropriate.
- Recommends ways to improve system and facilities performance.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma within 6 months of employment; a tanker endorsement is preferred. Requires possession of or ability to readily obtain an ODEQ Class D water operator license and Class D wastewater license within 6 months of employment; Class C Licenses are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Tasks involve the ability to exert strong physical effort in heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, or walking, and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (up to 50 pounds).
