Description
The Child Health Epidemiology Fellow will support two critical maternal and child health surveillance efforts within the Georgia Department of Public Health: The Birth Defects Registry (BDR) and the Pregnant People–Infant Linked Longitudinal Surveillance (PPILLS) for stillbirth and neonatal abstinence syndrome.
For the BDR project, the Fellow will clean and analyze surveillance data to develop a suite of dissemination products, including a comprehensive statewide surveillance report. Responsibilities include conducting both descriptive and advanced analyses of birth defects data, characterizing affected populations, and supporting data submission to national surveillance systems. Deliverables will be tailored for diverse audiences and prioritize translating epidemiologic findings into public health actions.
For the PPILLS project, the Fellow will refine cohort development and deduplication methods using SAS and R codes to improve surveillance accuracy and reproducibility.
