The Custodial Supervisor proactively manages work performed by in-house custodians. The Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, prioritizing and assigning work, inspecting completed work and communicating with clients. The individual in this position assists in the management of Custodial operations and communicates with other supervisors on day and night shifts. The Supervisor also mentors and trains custodians and handles union grievances when appropriate.

- 60%- Manage custodial staff to ensure that buildings and assets of the University are clean and well maintained. Ensure high quality fulfillment of cleaning tasks. Manage the daily operation of the day shift custodial group. Supporting actions include scheduling, inspections, training, and client feedback.
- 25%- Manage tasks that support the strategic goals of Custodial Services. Provide work direction, guidance, and personnel actions including hiring, coaching, counseling, and discipline in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- 10%- Perform administrative functions in support of Custodial Services. Track employee time using Kronos, order inventory, reconcile attendance, provide uniforms and PPE, report maintenance defects, accidents, and hazards, coordinate services, and prepare reports.
- 5% -Other duties and projects assigned. Provide on-site support for major campus emergencies. Ability to temporarily take on other Custodial Supervisor duties in the event of absence or vacancy.
- Formal Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Work Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing custodians in a unionized environment.
- Work Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong listening skills; computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Specific Job Knowledge: Technical knowledge of equipment, chemicals, and cleaning procedures required.
- Other: Valid Driver’s License required with good driving record; must meet Villanova’s Risk Management Motor Vehicle Record Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Participation in a registration program for career development in the environmental or custodial field desired
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
- Tools, machinery and equipment used: Extractors, auto scrubbers, floor machines, vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, burnishers.
- Environmental conditions: Routine exposure to trash, occasional contact with mold, vomit, blood, and smoke-damaged rooms.
- Physical requirements: Must be able to climb ladders, bend and reach, and lift up to 60 pounds.
- Unusual Work Hours: May be required to work nights and weekends. Required to have a personal cell phone for contact during normal working hours and emergencies.

The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.Salary Grade:13Job Classification:exempt
