Summary:

The Data Product Manager is responsible for driving the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of data products that enable actionable insights, clinical excellence, and operational efficiency across a large multi-specialty physician group. This role bridges the gap between clinical, operational, and technical teams—ensuring data assets and platforms deliver measurable value to providers, administrators, and patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Product Strategy & Vision
  • Define and execute a data product roadmap aligned with organizational goals for population health, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and IT leadership to identify opportunities where data products can drive measurable improvement.
  • Establish product success metrics (adoption, quality, ROI, etc.) and continuously refine priorities based on impact.
  • Product Ownership & Lifecycle Management
  • Manage the full product lifecycle of data assets, analytics tools, and data platforms—from concept to adoption and ongoing improvement.
  • Develop clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and analytics teams.
  • Oversee prioritization of the data backlog and balance competing stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
  • Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as the primary liaison between clinicians, data engineers, analysts, and executives.
  • Translate business and clinical needs into technical requirements and ensure deliverables meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead product demos, training, and communication to drive engagement and adoption.
  • Data Quality, Integration, & Insights
  • Partner with data engineering to enhance data quality, interoperability, and master data management.
  • Champion usability and accessibility of enterprise data—enabling self-service analytics and trustworthy reporting.
  • Support analytics teams in developing KPIs, dashboards, and advanced models that inform clinical and operational decision-making.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Public Health, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of product management, data analytics, or data platform experience.
  • Experience in healthcare or life sciences required—preferably in a large physician group, health system, or payer setting.
  • Proven success managing data-focused products (data warehouses, APIs, dashboards, ML models).
  • Strong familiarity with EHRs (e.g., TouchWorks, NextGen), claims data, quality reporting (HEDIS, MIPS), and value-based care analytics.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, governance, and interoperability (FHIR, HL7, MS SQL Server, Azure, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to define metrics and measure impact
  • Agile product management experience and familiarity with tools like Jira, Aha!, or Azure DevOps.
  • Collaborative leadership style with ability to work effectively across clinical and technical teams.
