As a Data Scientist Intern, you’ll support the development of data‑driven solutions that help teams better understand business challenges and unlock meaningful insights. Your work will help Make a Difference by contributing to models, analyses, and tools that influence smarter decision‑making. Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist Intern, you will:
- Support proof‑of‑concept models and analytical tools based on business needs
- Write, test, and maintain clean, well‑documented Python code
- Extract and analyze data using SQL to support projects and insights
- Clean, organize, and prepare structured and unstructured datasets
- Assist with feature engineering and data preparation efforts
- Use modern development tools (e.g., Git, notebooks, cloud platforms)
- Document processes, code, and analytical outputs
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint work, and team collaboration
What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience
As a Data Scientist Intern, you must have:
- Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor’s degree program (80+ hours completed)
- Foundational knowledge of data analysis, statistics, or computer science concepts
- Basic experience with Python or similar programming languages
- Familiarity with SQL or relational data concepts
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to learn quickly and take direction in a team environment
- Strong organization and time‑management skills
Extra Toppings — Desired Experience
As a Data Scientist Intern, we prefer you to have:
- Exposure to machine learning, predictive modeling, or analytics coursework
- Experience working with real‑world datasets or class projects
- Familiarity with data notebooks, version control, or cloud platforms
- Interest in applying data science in a business or operational setting
Where & How You’ll Work
This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
